Kitties

Shhhh... the kittens are sleeping...

Awwwwwww!

We decided on names for the kittens. He is called Puck, and she is Duchess. Believe me when I tell you they live up to their names.

Here's Puck, helping me do laundry. They are the most inquisitive cats I've ever seen. They study my every move. Especially when it involves food.

In other news, the kitchen renovation is proceeding. We're really making progress now. We bought all the appliances, and this week we went to look at granite for the benchtop, and also we picked out the cabinets. All that's left is to decide on a floor tile. Since we're having the same tile throughout the house, that's taking a while to get it just right.

This Sunday, we're going to an Independence Day picnic. Which is sort of ironic, what with Stephen being a Brit, and all.

Here Kitty, Kitty

So, the kittens are home, and settling in. I am soliciting names for them, give me your input in the comments, or shoot me an email.
Yesterday, I had to wait here at home for a delivery, so Stephen went to the pet store to get some supplies for our new family members. He got talking to the woman working there, and mentioned what kind of cats we were getting. She busts out with "Oh, I hope you got them from Karen!" Um, yeah... it occurred to me, what if we hadn't? Talk about putting your foot in it. I'm constantly amazed at what a small town this can be.
That reminds me of something that happened soon after I got here. We took a drive down the coast, and stopped for lunch. The waitress was so chatty, I thought she was going to sit down and join us for lunch. Stephen had a good laugh at the look on my face.

Welcome home, kids. The boy is in the front, and that's his sister hiding in the back. Their pedigree names are Karocoons Artinite, and Karocoons Anatase. But that's a mouthful, yes? Don't forget, give me your suggestions.

Cat Show

So, we went to the cat show today. It was...um...different. I couldn't help thinking of that wonderful movie "Best In Show". I loved seeing all those cats, and there was this one Siamese who kept flirting with me. It was very instructional, more for Stephen than for me, because he got to see some full grown Maine Coon cats. Big, and beautiful, and very sociable. He even held one, just to show willing. Now, both of the breeders I had talked to were there. One was just as sweet as pie, showed us all her cats, let us hold them, told us their history, the whole nine. She doesn't have any kittens available, though. The other, who I'll call Sourpuss, barely gave us the time of day. As soon as Stephen opened his mouth, she clammed up and walked away. Just walked away. It was so weird. I said "I guess she didn't like the look of us"...I know some breeders are funny that way. Stephen thinks that she had a problem with the way he talks. Stephen speaks with what is known as a "posh" English accent. Sourpuss is from Dublin, originally, and she obviously took a dislike to him just on the basis of how he sounds. Weird. So, stuff her. I got in touch with another breeder this evening, and she has a bunch of kittens available, so we're going there tomorrow.

News

I'm so excited,
and I just can't hide it,
I'm about to lose control,
and I think I like it...

I'm getting a kitten!!

(*snicker* now that song's going to be in your head all day. You're welcome.)

I've talked to a couple of breeders, and I'll be going to a cat show on Sunday. I'm looking for a Maine Coon cat, which is not easy to find here. I hope that Ginger, the stray tabby, won't be too jealous. The breeder I talked to tonight has a boy, 12 weeks old. Monday we're going to go have a look at him. This time next week I could be cuddling my new baby.
